In the comment to the previous posting ajana said that MacCane had scanned KGB in Putin’s eyes. Well, not only stereotypes are difficult to get rid of, but some mass media machineries work hard to support these stereotypes. What’s interesting – on the one hand anti-Russian propaganda is progressing, on the other hand patriotism of the Russians is increasing, at least according to the people who live in Net-sphere.

Dear E.YU! The Russians' patriotism is incresing, thats true. Even Russians living abroad can feel that very well))) I should note that our government is doing an excellent PR work aimed at the transformation of the image of Russia around the globe. Not only the country's leaders but any other people who appear in world media and speak on behalf of Russia couse respect and make others listen to them and believe them. So I dont think that certain countries' attempts to support "sovietisms" or to spread anti-Russian propaganda will longer work.
I a bit disagree with Sisi saying that DAM is ordinary. He proved rather tough during the last unfortunate events, and he will be sure to benefit from it. At least I was surprised with his new sharp image. Yet as Ajana said he is still thought of as a follower (successor) of VV and of course DAM will have to do his utmost to get rid of Somebody's shadow.
Talking about Russian politics and politicians, I would like to ask the following question: can the Russian political system be characterized as democracy? Once I heard an opinion that it is autocratism with only traces of democracy. Well, considering the way the president elections are being done recntly, it can be true. And one more thing - do you think that the present political system works best for our country?
I think only autocratism will save Russia, democracy only adds to chaos. All history of Russia shows that the peaks of its prosperity happened under some authoritarian leader.
The cleverest, are you sure in it? Do you reaaly think that authoritarianism will be better for people? I think such a way can bring us to tyranny, as that was in the time of Stalin who exiled innocent people in the concetration camps. To my mind we just need in the wise politician but I disagree that he must be a dictator!!!
Dear the cleverest and lasvegas! I strongly believe that our country will never fall under a dictator again. The form of the political system we have now seems to work well, let's see what happens next... Anyways, nothing should ever go to extremes - authoritarism to tyranny... And just have a look at what an ugly form the famous American democracy takes now.
I share Ajana's point of view. All is well in its golden measure. And people shouldn't be deceived by a nice word "democracy" - The USA now really reveals an ugly form of governing. Their democracy turned into some kind of tyrant squealing, and the country has become an international policemen.
LasVegas, an authoritarian leader doesn't mean a dictator.
Everybody, I think VV will be the next after DAM, but everything may change.
Oy...
Political debate...I understand little in such things((
All I can say is that Medvedev is sitting in the Putin`a shade, but it's fiddler's news...
I don`t know will he(Putin) hold a post as a presesent the third time or not it's all the same to me...
I doubt whether my life will change
of that...
I agree with WIld Cherry. I understand little in polotics and I dont belive that my live will change for the worth...Of course I dont want to life under the dictator(it will lead to a complete chaos), nevettheless in our modern life there are also a lot of terrible problems- city dwellers live under constant threat, the crime rate is very high, houses are burgled with alarming frequency, there are full of places you would be afraid to visit at night and so on...There were no such problems in the time of Stalin, but there were other..So,we understand everything in comparison...Politics is beyond my understanding...But there is only one thing that I know for sure:"Our life is not a bed of roses-it has it's ups and downs..."
Dear Wildangel, you said that politics is beyond your understanding.. Well, do you understand the basic principles of business? Couse politics is a business, only on a greater scale. Every country fights for its interests, that are primarely all about money and power. The only thing is that this kind of business is sort of a double-faced one, couse it is using such attractive statements as "human rights", "peace keeping", "charity" etc to cover up its mercantile goals.
Ajana, of course I understand this eternal truths...I've just already said that money rules the world and it is the side of the question...
I completely agree with your statement that "this kind of business is sort of a double-faced one, couse it is using such attractive statements as "human rights", "peace keeping", "charity" etc TO COVER UP its MERCANTILE GOALS"......
I have wanted to say that I don't quite understand your debate about everything being decided by someone else. People voted for DAM as well as before that they had voted for VV. Nobody made them do that. Public opinion can be easily formed/changed. Another question is an alternative that we have. For example to my mind, the latest elections didn't give us an alternative at all.
As for the statement that politics is a more complex sort of business - that's correct. However I think that any kind of business is a metter of money and power and it's always double-faced (not only politics). Do you, my dear friend Ajana, believe that there can be honest business? I think it's impossible to imagine.
I want to add that I share Gunes's opinion that our country has had enough experiments, as for me, I would like them to stop for a while.
Dear,E.Yu!)U are quite right)))))We just don't have any alternative, that's why I can say that we are made to choose this or that leader...
Dear E.Yu, I can call any business honest as long as it doesn't decieve others about it's goals. We all expect any business company to strive for earning profits, becouse that is what it's all about. Some businesses will follow fair practices, some will not, but nobody will have any false ideas about that. What I truly HATE about politics is that "cover-up". Let's take for example the recent events in Osetia...
I think it's impossible to critisize evens in Osetia in a firm belief, first of all because we haven't got reliable information,we've got a lot of different opinions about it(war),nevertheless nobody can make conclusion who was the initiator, how to improve situation etc, actually i can't understand how people living in 21 century can't negotiat without interference arms..
I'd like to support rasberry's position, that nowadays we can't rely on all information we receive from Mass Media resources. And it's rather difficult to distinguish the truth from an outrageous lie.But in my opinion, very often personal attitude of people to the concrete country plays a decisive role in their estimation of its policy. Moreover, I think that the Osetian conflict without any doubts revealed cruelty and disrespect of some politicians( I'd like not to name them) to the fortunes of innocent people.
Come on, Onyx, don't be ridiculous, powerful people are never respectful to ordinary people, and they couldn't care less about their destinies. "The end justifies the means" - this is a slogan that works well in politics.
Oh,oh,oh!!!! How many different topics and absolutely different points!!!!
Politics- is a very complicated question, there are a lot of sides. As for DAM- I can't agree with that thing that he is ander VV's shadow!! Remember, how he behaved and what decisions he made during Osetian conflict, when VV was in China and could only advise to DAM!
Business... As a whole there are people in business whose purpose is to earn big money, and it's not important for them if their methods are honest.
What I whant to say about Osetian conflict- of course I agree with Raspberry, we don't have reliable information, because Mass Media is just a tool of forming our opinion in that way, as Somebody wants.. But the fact is!!! The fact is that osetian people were harmed greatly, the fact is that this was a attempt at a genocide!! And I still don't understand why world community does nearly nothing!!!!!
I fully agree with the Cleverest on the point that the ordinary people are just means in achieving political goals. That's what happened in Osetia, a political game was played, certain goals were reached from both sides, and the civilians suffered greatly...I strongly believed that such things could not happen in our times. Silly me....
Ajana, silly you! (With all due respect!) Now, as the world's population is growing, resources are decreasing, and great countries are becoming more and more aggressive while achieving their goals. I think it goes without saying that the further we live the less sensitive big governments become. Ordinaty people are just small seeds on the grinder. It is not a new phenomenon, things like that are described in many masterpieces of literature. "We" by Zamiatin, or "1854" - the big brother is watching you!
guys, who write about Zhirinovsky as a president. Are you mad? What funny things are you speaking about? Do you want funny experiments with your country? To my mind we've had enough of them.
Ive just been trying to imagine Zhirinovsky to be our president)))What do you think he would do first?)))
The Cleverest, you have quoted my favourite phrase - about the big brother. I agree with you and Ajana that the fortunes of ordinary people are at stake when politicians play their games. We have to accept it. They say "you cannot make an omlette without breaking eggs" or in Russian - лес рубят-щепки летят. I don't justify anybody, I jsut want to say that everything depends on the point of view.
And The Cleverest, please, be more polite to other participants of the blog, as you sometimes sound a bit brusque, sorry, you know I love you much.
Zhirinivskiy as a presedent - the worst joke ever. I even can't imagine it, that's why I can't imagine what he can do. I do think that he is very clever, but he is so absurd!
I've just read the news that Obama won in the USA. So let's comgratulate him and hope that his presidentship will not make the international situation worse for Russia.
In Japan people don't care, in Russia they were more interested. Hm...
Hello everybody,i just read a lot of comments about Jirinovskiy, and still have a shock, why not if we give a chance to him be a prezident. He is very clever man and knows problems of our country.May be he is a bit crazy, but i think that he can do a lot for Russia. He already stole a lot of money and now can be a leader in our country. But i am of caurse joking, and i am agree with The cleverest that it was not good idea to ask everybody to choose the new president Jirinovskiy, but i think it was a bit impolite to write so rude message. So and what about Obama?I think again as the cleverest think cause it is very cool that american peopele chose him,and i am sure that situation and friendship between Russia and America will be better. So thank you for attention:-)
We are talking about Osetia and Obama?)) Well we don`t exactly know from what he is made of, does he have any power to resist Pentagon`s influence, but i`am sure that after Mac C.`s defeat it would a great pressure on him(Obama))
And what about Osetia? It`s just one peace of a puzzle in politic war, it`s smthing that had to happen, it`s a world crysis) Be happy, i don`t cary about it, the only thing in wich i`am interested is zomg LHC)
As I don't believe that ordinary people can decide a lot (it doesn't matter where they are - I Ukrain or in the USA), I guess, that people have elected the one needed in some powerful circles. As far I as remember he didn't show any particular hatred towards Russia, but still he said let's show Russia its place (or something like that, it's not a quotation)
Dear Bombastikk, what zomg LHC? Maybe if I become intersted in it too, I will worry less about other things-:))
oh...i`m a stupid blondy...((((
I know nothing about the politician(((
In this case,I think it`ll be better to me to keep silent. And to listen what clever people speak.))))
I would like to speak today about Fidel Castro.. What are you thinking about this person? It seems to me he is outstanding man. News about leaving his post, were not a shock for us, he had got a big problems with health!! Now the government of Cuba is headed by his brother Rafael. Fidel is like an epoch.
I think Fidel Castro is very brave and strong men. He stood up against USA and it required a great courage. Moreover, Fidel Castro tried to make his country not just an ordinary resort island where Cubans are only servants but a strong and powerful state. I agree with Shikidim that he is a hero.
