I will be celebrating the New Year away from my family, that's why the presents that I am going to give will be quite neutral - what in habitual to present in Japan - wine, fruit, sweets, cofe, tea, towels, espensive pens. And I don't expect to be presented anything special. But I would really like to have a new professional photocamera.
oh...New Year...it `s coming soon!!! and i still don`t know were i`ll be celebrating it.
i planed to go to Finland, but I have not time to make the new passport((( that`s why possibly i`ll be celebrating New Year at Moscow.
What I`ll present...hm...i don`t know, may be something unusual...i`ll think...
And what i expect to be presented...nothing...i only expect good celebration)))
Well..You know, dear Snowflake, actually this question is rather difficult for me. Because usually I begin to prepare the presents for my relatives and friends just on the eve of the New Year.Though it may be wrong..Perhaps, I'll present some nice and pleasant things, lovely packed, which I hope will please my dear ones..Yet I don't know what exactly it will be.)) But what about the presents intended for me, I can say that I'll be satisfied with everything.I'm not a fussy person and I always remember the following words: "Don’t look а gift horse in the mouth". Also I'd like to say, that the New Year is one of my most favourite holidays!! I adore it because it's full of exultation, joy and merriments))And thank you, Snowflake, for this topic!
hi everybody,thank you ,Snowflake for this topic too.it is very good question about presents,because every year it is problem for my parents to choose it for me,but i always know what my mother likes chocolate and good coffee,for my father it is abit difficult but how onix said "Dont look a gift horse in the mouth",but this New year i will celebrate wih my friend,unfortunatly not with my parents.
Oh,New Year... It seems to me that I celebrated previous one not so long ago..Time flies so quickly!
I don't know exactly how I will celebrate it, but I think this year I will be away from my family, just with my friends.
AS for gifts..I usually rememder that I must buy them just a week or two before New Year))) So,I'm sure I'll cooperate with my best friend again and present to our common friends some humorous sets of gifts)) And I'll present something neutral to my relatives-for example, some nice decoration for house.
This year my parents are going to present me new mobile phone(they told me so) and as for friends... I'm sure they will make up something interesting)))
At last,New Year comes to us,one only idea about it compels to smile and prepare to this holiday!That can be more wonderful what comfortable and comfort atmosphere of family, when we greet New Year with champagne and listen the Kremlin chimes beating 12 o'clock and you think the most secret desires. Usually I celebrated with my family then I prefer to have New Year parties with my best friends!We give each other different souvenirs,such as the soft toys, new-year souvenirs, various sweetnesses etc, all, what only will make happy a person!Happy New Year all!!!=)
New Year is my favourite holiday, because it's like a fairy tale. I don't know where I will celebrate it,but this holiday will be without my parents, only with friends.
Hm...about presents... for my daddy I will buy a cravat, and for mum we with daddy will buy earrings with emeralds.

Dear, Snowflake, the Nwe Year is one of the my favorite holidays. I like so much to trim the Christmas tree, lay the table and buy presents to my close people...
But as you know it's very difficult for me to choose appropriate gifts and besides to find a free time for it... that's why usually I buy all presents almost by the eve of holiday (like Onyx=))
So usually I present some souvenirs (aroma candles, small statuettes), greeting cards, soft toys) And as for me I don't expect that I will be presented something expensive or useful...No...it's not important actually...I think the most important is to know that this gift is a part of my friend's love and it's enough...=)

serious process;2 years ago my parents did it without me,may be it's rather stupid,but my holiday was spoiled(i wanna say that for some people it's not just a holyday,it's really a very significant event.This New year i'm to celebrate abroad(i hope),it will be rather interesting cause in Australia the weather is very warm so it will be very unusual to celebrate New Year's Eve without snow)))As for presents -i don't care about it,cause it doesn't matter at all what kind of present it is,i prefer attention,so u can present me just a scrap of paper and i'd be happy))))))just be easier and make your presents sincerely=)

I want to make some unusual presents for my family and friends...I have been thinking about it since the beginning of November but my mind is persistenly refusing to born any interesting thoughts!
The only thing I like in New year is that all examinations are completed and we can take a short rest.
I have lots of reasons to hate this Night.
Honestly I don`t want to remember about this holidays, because I still haven't got the faintest idea how will I celebrate it...and this is the main reason why I don`t like New Year`s Night so much...Everyone goes to big patries with lots of dancing and drinking(I doesn`t mean that I don`t like parties)It`s simply isn't my preferred mode of celebrating anything. And answering "at home" when people ask you where you've been for New Year's Night tends to get you weird looks...
I'm not even sure that a new year really is a reason to celebrate. What does New Year really mean? Just a few numbers changing on a calendar, that's all...

Actually new year a good holiday... But for me it is always a greater problem ((my parents do not live together... And every year i have to decide whis whom i have to be...and that year is like all others(... There are some variants with who i can celebrate 1)whis mum of the house and then to walk whis my friends.... 2)with father on a summer residence and his friends(in fact its realy cool...So i have to decide what to do... And after new year my father offer my to go to Bulgaria... But unfortunately this all meanwhile dreams... And that can bring us new year is hard to guess))...

And I think that is good idea for my presentation on Thursday)) Buying presents in the winter is so interesting but sometimes a little bit nervous (for example I haven't bought a Christmas tree yet!!!) For some friends presents are ready, such as beautiful statuette for my friend's collection and souvenirs made of dark chocolate and of course i've prepared very big hand-made present for my Mum! So I wish you good luck in your Christmas preparations!

I have a love/hate relationship with New Year because i never know what to get for my friends and family and everything is last minute for me. Same goes with where I will be on New Year. So hectic. Well usually everything turns out good or great and im happy all the same. As for what kind of gifts I will get I try not to think about it, every gift is special.

We still put the presents under the Christmas tree. And if I am putting gifts and see that there are some other gifts already put - I don't have a look till the morning.
I don't make a wish during the beating of the clock, but I used to do it when I was younger and more naive. Once girls and I even managed to burn a piece of paper and drink the ashes with champaign during the beating, as someone said that it could make the dream come true. What a crazy little idiot - me, at 18 years old - I nearly burnt my fingers!
As for the question about presents. I haven't thought about them yet - no time for shopping.
I would buy a toy of a prince for my child - as she wants a doll of a man, she is unhappy that her princesses can marry only bears, frogs, pigs and monkeys, thus, she needs a man, maybe even two.
I really don't know what to present to my parents. I think it will be a tie for my Dad and a hand-bag for my Mom. But the most difficul thing is to buy a present for my husband, as he is rather nasty. The possible variant is a tie pin (though he has one already), maybe an italian shirt (he has a pink one, I am thinking about a white one). So, guys, if you have ideas, please, share.
As for me, I really would like to get some bijouterie - a bracelet, for example. Or a nice scarf. Or a new bag. But I guess that I would have some perfume. My birthday comes next to the New Year day, that's why I usually don't receive special presents for the New Year.

As for me I don't like buying presents because of a number of people in a shops. So usually I do it in the morning. But when I leave a shop with presents I have a very good mood the whole day, because in fact I like buying presents, but buying alone.) And usually I decide what to present to my friend and relatives exactly in a shop, I fust see something and think "yes, he(or she) will be glad to have it" and that's my methode))

Each family holiday its a problem for me. I mean a choice of gifts. It is necessary to please each member of a family, knowing what they have or dont have. But most likely it appears that exectly this thing they already have, is also it even more difficultly))) Thet easiest to give gifts to girlfriends and sister... It for me. Because they are close on age with me and a female. But for a family and guys it is very difficult to choose gifts! But I even more like to give gifts than to receive! Especially when you know that the person waited this thing. So it is relly exciting to do pleasantly for lovely person! To my mind it is important just attention instead of a concrete thing! Because to me it is not important what give to me! But I need much time to choose gifts to present)))

Because i was born in third part of December usually my birthday present is combined with New Year present, but for me it is okey i never was some kind of a greedy in this question. Of course i get some present, but for me the atmosphere of unite family is more important.

Two, maybe three years ago New Year used to be such a miracle for me... I was waiting for presents under the Christmas tree being quite impatient. I woke up in the early morning and ran in a breackneck pace to the parent's room, where the Christmas tree used to stand... Yes, that were brilliant minutes. And what's now? Now New Year became a kind of routine for me, really. It's just the same from year to year, don't know why it's called "New". Presents? They are usually stupid and useless. I definetely know how to please only a few friends of mine. Other's just get corny stuff like souvenirs and greeting cards. So do I. I get something I like quite rarely. Not because I'm so hard-to-please. No. But who likes souvenirs?

As for me, I like giving presents very much! I think I like it more then to get presents from somebody (friends and relatives).
I like to make fun presents with my hands. I think that the present that was maked by yourself gives more warm and good emotions than something that you bought in the shop.
I don't know what are me friends preparing for me, but I'm sure that it is something very-very-very interesting and fun! And I, as I can, will answer them the same!)))))

Let me tell you one story/ It's very short. You know, when we talk about presents, usually most of us sayes that they want to get something usefull as a present. It can be a very-very-very cever book, a new mobile phone or may be a steel sword (there are knights around us!!!) But two days ago I woked up earlyer in the morning then usually and understood that the best present for me on New Year is the big bar of milk chocolate! :) I don't want to break my head thinking about something usefull and it doesn't matter, that chocolate will will be eaten just in two or three hours, because it can make me happy!
I love gifts very much. I like to present and be presented and I love surprises. I think it,s great and very interesting!!!
Hi everybody, i still dont know what i'am going to present to my friends and family, and i rather dont know what they going to present to me, but i know were we are going to celebrate it at my home with my friends, it should be interesting as always)
The present by itself does not means anything, what is important it is the
person who makes you a present. I think everybody can feel if this person`s feelings are true) or it`s just dome kind of forced need.
Everybody writes here, that they don't want any presents for themselves or even don't think about them. I think it is nonsense! Really, why don't be honest to yourself? I expect presents for the holidays, I think about them and want them to be a surprise! And if it is some stupid souvenir from an acquainance - it is a surprise and it is pleasant. But I always expect something meaningful (don't confuse it with expensive) from my close people.
By the way, a group of my chou-chous presented me a very unexpected "souvenir" - a tiny Christmas tree - so cool! I was very happy. And there was a second gift - a scarf - of a really amasing colour. Both of them are very meaningful for me - first of all, I mentioned both things once, secondly these people showed me that they know what I like and care about me. I was very-very happy! Really.
That's why I must insist on the fact that the gifts that we are presented mean a lot.
