Teachers also have the right not to be bored

I can’t understand my students when they complain that some lectures (or subjects, or lessons) are not interesting. As my favourite teacher professor Kravchenko used to say: “Who said that learning should be entertaining? It is a boring and tiresome process.” I fully share his point or view. Well, come down, everybody. I don’t want to say that studying must be boring; I mean it doesn’t necessarily have to be entertaining. I feel disappointed when students cannot understand that it is impossible to always have fun (after all a teacher knows better what must be done on the lesson); they even may allow themselves to get up and leave the classroom in the middle of the lecture (I even cannot imagine what that lecturer felt). Don’t you think that your lack of interest results in teachers’ unwillingness to make lessons more interesting? Don’t you think that when you wrinkle your nose in disgust when hearing that you will be given a new grammar topic it is a bit offensive? I don’t speak about everybody here – funny, but the majority of the students that write regularly on this blog are not the students that I have just described. I want you to explain why it happens since I really want to understand.

very interesting question nowdays;in my opinion it's normal when students complain that "all this lessons are not interesting at all(it's not about your lessons),it's unnecessary, why do they(the teachers)teach us absolutelly useless things?" and all that stuff -you see, students all the time complain;of caurse they understand that learning shouldn't be entertaining but they're possibly not ready to comprehend the main aim of that proccess-studies to achieve success and make progress to get on in life, they are just children and they need time to grow up,it's not bad or good-they just have to overcome that threshold.

Then, maybe you should wait, but not enter the university, if you are such a child?

I think it is just a somekind of communication and showing the opinion. I can say that i it is a part of lesson, maybe the most important time. In our lessons we are always very relax and it is difficult to swith to english immediately, so we express our emotions in that a bit stupid maner. Please don't be angry on us, we all enjoy you lessons greatly!

kunz, who are you talking about? What does it mean you??I wrote my personal opinion in general,I didn's speak about myself at all;it's not a question of entering the university, they'll have to enter anyway,I mean actually that people are too different and sometimes they need help to understand simple things like importance of education.

I think every student some times on some lectures may has a great desire to "make off"...some because of spring and laziness others because of reluctance to gain knowledge...
Of course it is very disrespectable and lack of culture, but much worse is when somebody talking and laughing aloud...its really irritates and disturbes teacher and other students who come not just for plus in a diary.

hmmm...what can I say?))
I also think that studying shouldn't be always entertaining or funny.
but...I really can't stand some lectures. Because of its useless.

oh...maybe students say that lectures are boring because they don't understand what for should they study some stupid subjects?))) and even a teacher don't know why?)))))))
I'm just horsing around))
francly speaking, I think that at university people can make their own choice...what to study more and what to omit)
but a student has to be polite and respectful to a teacher on lectures in all cases!

Hello)Sometimes it is teacher’s fault that pupils don't listen to him and look through the window, sleep during the lesson, count the minutes and constantly look at watch waiting for the end of it.
At the boring lesson the discipline may be fine. The students may sit straight and watch the blackboard, but it doesn't mean that the lesson interests them, because a teacher is not always a good one. In my opinion the lesson becomes interesting if the teacher is a good speaker!!! As for me I really understand that it’s hard to be a teacher, and a lot of students are very disrespectable! A little knowledge is a dangerous thing!!!

Hello, friends! Of course, studying is our work, and the work can’t always be funny and entertaining. We have weekends to entertain! And even if we don’t like the work we do we shouldn’t show it anybody, especially teachers! They are also doing their work!
At some lectures I really feel sorry with the lecturer, because the most part of the audience doesn’t cover their indifference to the subject. You may not be interested in studying, but if you come to the university, you must be serious.

2 weeks ago we had a lecture. Just 15 minutes had passed and about 15 students went out. For what they went to the lecture? Just to say "hi" their friends and went in the middle of period to cantine? I agree that some lectures are really boring, but it's our choice to go there or not. In this case it would be easier to copy the material before the exam. I think we should respect teachers' feelings and their job.
